Writing help - Representatives from the Graduate Writing Center are available for expert online writing consultations. Please make an appointment to schedule a time.

Short Format Statistical Consulting - Stats got you stuck? Online consulting is available to students working on projects. Get help designing or analyzing your next study. To learn more and sign up for a consultation, please visit the statistics consulting website.

CAPS single session clinic for graduate students - Meet with a counselor for a one-time only session to discuss a current problem or concern. The counselor will help you clarify your problem and work with you to develop skills and strategies to create a personalized action plan.

When you go to the Single Session Clinic web page, find the link “Click here to schedule graduate students.” In fall term, blocks of time are reserved for grad students, Thursdays 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Fridays 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Grad students can schedule for any available appointment throughout the week, but these blocks of time are reserved only for them.


Scholarly Presentation Award

Previously offered as the “Travel Award,” the Graduate School is pleased to offer the new Graduate Student Scholarly Presentation Award for the 2020-2021 academic year. This change is to follow the OSU COVID travel restrictions while supporting graduate students’ professional development. Award amounts will not exceed $500.

The funds from this award are designed to provide domestic or international graduate students with financial support to cover part of the costs associated with registering, virtually attending and presenting their scholarly work/achievements at prestigious virtual conferences. Please note that the presentation of scholarship remains a key eligibility requirement for this award.

Cross-discipline GRAD courses for graduate students

GRAD 599 – Interdisciplinary Teams (CRN 39584), winter term, Ecampus, 3 credits
Identifying, examining and practicing the top skills, attributes and leadership dynamics involved in working in interdisciplinary environmental science teams in industry, government, and research organizations, informed by experienced experts across these areas.

GRAD 599 – Graduate Teaching Seminar (CRN 39659), winter term, Ecampus, 1 credit
This is a 1-credit, just-in-time pedagogy and teaching support course for Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) at Oregon State University. This course provides support for GTAs and other graduate students across OSU's academic disciplines who teach site-based, hybrid, and online courses. The course focuses on evidence-based pedagogical practices with an emphasis on practical strategies and problem-solving, and will be tuned to graduate students' needs and the classes they are instructing.

GRAD 512 – Current Issues in Higher Education (CRN 35999), winter term, Ecampus, 3 credits
Explores current, work-relevant issues in higher education nationally. Development of plan to stay current with important issues.


Fulbright US student program information session

The U.S. Student Fulbright program offers grants for self-designed research projects, an academic year of graduate study, or an English Teaching Assistantship abroad. Please join National and Global Scholarships Advising for an information meeting, hear from OSU Fulbright alum, and bring your questions.

Thesis and Dissertation Completion Awards open for winter term nominations

The Graduate School is pleased to offer the Thesis Completion Award and the Dissertation Completion Award to support outstanding domestic or international master’s or doctoral students who are in the final stages of their work.

These awards are offered on a quarterly basis, and are useful in situations where graduate assistantship opportunities do not exist or where grant funding is insufficient to fund the student’s final term. The intent is to enable students to focus on research and writing with the goal of improving the quality of their work and expediting time to degree completion. Previously offered as the Thesis or Dissertation Completion Award, the award has been separated into two separate awards: the Thesis Completion Award (for master’s students) and the Dissertation Completion Award (for doctoral students).
