Ian Kellems, the executive director of OSU’s Counseling & Psychological Services, explores these dichotomies and reflects on how to navigate the graduate school experience, allowing you to not just survive but thrive.

PUTTING YOUR GRADUATE DEGREE TO WORK - An advanced degree opens many doors. But how do you find your best career fit? To help start paving your way to a satisfying career, this panel discussion featuring accomplished and well-connected faculty and industry professionals will explore a broad range of opportunities that a graduate degree can provide, both in and outside of academia. Moderated by Claire Wu, Career Development Center.

This panel discussion features current OSU graduate students who will talk candidly about their graduate experiences and what they have learned so far along the way. Panelists will share strategies for navigating the academic, professional, and financial transitions. Moderated by Jessica Beck, Graduate School.

SUCCEEDING AS A WRITER IN GRADUATE SCHOOL - Your success as a graduate student depends on your ability to write well and according to the conventions of your discipline/field. Please join OSU Graduate Writing Center staff as we talk about the rigors and demands of graduate-level writing and the role that the Graduate Writing Center can play in your success. URM AND 1st GENERATION STUDENTS - Underrepresented minorities and first generation graduate students will begin to build a community of colleagues in this round table, moderated networking session, hosted by current students and faculty across the university. Make your connections here! Moderated by Jason Dorsette, Office of Academic Achievement.

MILITARY AND VETERAN STUDENTS - This session will provide information on procedures for students receiving veteran benefits or Military Tuition Assistance and how to sign up for those benefits. We’ll also highlight resources and programs available for our members of the military connected community. William Elfering, Military & Veteran Resources.

STUDENT PARENTS - Come learn from the Family Resource Center about all the services and supports we have to offer: Child Care Assistance, Lactation Rooms, Our Little Village free drop-in child care and more! International Student Orientation

1 to 2 p.m.

SPONSORED STUDENT INFORMATION SESSION - This is a mandatory session for sponsored students. You will learn important information about your sponsorship requirements, as well as the services and resources provided through the OIS sponsored student programs team.

2 to 3 p.m.

GRADUATE STUDENT VISA SESSION - The visa session is mandatory for all new graduate international students, including graduate exchange students. The Office of International Services (OIS) will review immigration regulations students must follow to maintain their status while in the United States.

3 to 4 p.m.
Agriculture Production Room

IMMIGRATION DOCUMENT CHECK (IDC) - This is a required session. You will receive instructions about completing IDC E-Forms in a separate email. Be sure to complete IDC E-Forms prior to this event. During this event, we will review the online forms you submitted and your physical documents. Please make sure to bring your I-20/DS-2019, passport, and dependent documents with you.
