Welcome participants and supervisors of scholar programs such as McNair, MARC U-STAR, LSAMP, Gates Millennium, GEM Fellowship, Ford Family Foundation Scholars, and many more!

As a public institution committed to teaching, research, outreach, and engagement, Oregon State University promotes economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world. Graduate students studying in our 90+ graduate programs are making positive impacts in communities with the work they do in the classroom, in their research labs, and out in the field. A number of these students are alumni of scholar programs just like yours!

A few reasons to consider Oregon State for graduate study:

Welcome scholar program directors and coordinators! We at the Graduate School want to thank you for your dedication and commitment supporting the students that you serve and the resources and guidance you provide.

Application Fee Waiver Incentive

We recognize the hard work and achievements that scholar participants have accomplished in their undergraduate degree. The Graduate School wants to celebrate these successes by waiving the graduate application fee for participants of McNair, MARC U-STAR, LSAMP, Gates Millennium, GEM Fellowship, Ford Family Foundation Scholars, and TRIO SSS. If you are a supervisor for a similar program not listed and would like your students to be considered for a waiver, please email graduate.inquire@oregonstate.edu. You can also see if your students are eligible for our financial need waiver.

To receive the scholar program application fee waiver, applicants must start their graduate school application, but not yet submit it. Applicants will complete the online request form, which includes sharing the name and email contact for their scholar program supervisor (you). You will receive an email from the Oregon State University Graduate School requesting confirmation of participation for the student. Please reply to the email with an electronic letter, electronic participation confirmation form, or an email reply confirming the student’s participation. Once we receive confirmation, the applicant will be granted the waiver.

Public Health SOPHAS Application

Several graduate programs in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences require applicants to complete an application through the Schools of Public Health Application System (SOPHAS). SOPHAS offers their own application fee waiver opportunities. To learn more visit the SOPHAS website.

Graduate Award Incentives

The Graduate School offers 20+ awards for graduate students every year. Your students’ programs may have their own financial awards as well. Many of the Graduate School scholarships and fellowships require a department to nominate the student. There are several awards that participants of scholar programs are a great fit. Students can speak with their programs about:

Complete the online form to request a virtual workshop or a campus visit.

Virtual Workshop

Looking for a way to connect your students to the Graduate School without travel? Consider an hour long virtual workshop on various topics including: Applying to Graduate School, Considering Graduate School, or an Oregon State University Overview.

Campus Visit

Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, campus visits will not be available for fall 2020 or winter 2021 terms.

Are you planning to take your scholar participants on a tour of university campuses? We would love to host you! Past visits have included a campus tour, a presentation, and conversations with current graduate students, usually lasting around three hours. If you have a time crunch, we are happy to adjust the schedule and shorten it to your desired length. Visiting groups are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.

We also have a free online virtual tour of our Corvallis campus. On the virtual tour website, students do not need to fill out the information on the form. They can bypass it by clicking the “X” at the top of the box.

Graduate School Brochures

Do you have a resource center or office for students? We would love to send you some of our Oregon State graduate school brochures to share. Complete the online request form.
