This 18-credit graduate credential will help prepare you to link scientists, decision-makers, and stakeholders when managing recreational and commercial fisheries and fish habitat and contribute towards the general conservation of aquatic resources.  Through quality courses, you can practice skills in biology, economy, law and social science as you deal with issues across a wide range of perspectives and disciplines. The flexibility of the course options allows students to mix and match courses to best fit their career goals.

Completion of the certificate prepares you to apply to graduate school in a similar discipline, can assist with your advancement in your current position as a fisheries professional, and can provide graduate course work that can contribute to your qualifications for agency employment or certification by professional societies.

Completion of the certificate can also serve as a pathway to Oregon State’s online Professional Science Master’s in Fisheries and Wildlife Administration (PSMFWA) degree or Master of Natural Resources (MNR) degree.

  • Credits earned while completing your certificate can be applied to either Master’s degree
  • Connect with faculty who can potentially serve as your major professor for the Master’s program
  • Bypass the GRE requirement for MNR, and possibly PSM, admission
  • Apply to a subsequent Master’s program at no cost
  • Smoothly transition into the PSM or MNR program as a currently admitted student
