Multidisciplinary Fellowships

American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, Inc.(AAHHE) - The AAHHE, in conjunction with Educational Testing Service (ETS), has announced the Dissertation Competition 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.aahhe.org.

American Association of University Women Dissertation Fellowship - A national competition for women at the final stage of writing their dissertation. The fellowship provides a stipend. AAUW provides other fellowship and postdoctoral opportunities. American Indian Graduate Center - offers graduate fellowships for American Indian and Alaska Native students from federally recognized US tribes. Applicants must pursue a master's or doctoral degree as a full-time student, demonstrate financial need, and be enrolled in a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group, or possess one-fourth degree federally recognized Indian blood.

AT&T Labs Internships and Fellows - As part of a long-standing commitment to higher education in science and technology, AT&T Labs offers two programs to graduate students: summer internships and three-year (ALFP) fellowships.

Australia to US Fellowship - The American Australian Association awards individual Fellowships for advanced study in the United States of up to US$25,000 each year. The Fellowships build on existing strong social and economic partnerships and foster intellectual exchange between the United States and Australia. Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Blue Waters Fellowship - Blue Waters Graduate Fellowships provide Ph.D. students with a year of support, including a $38,000 stipend, up to $12,000 in tuition allowance, an allocation of up to 50,000 node-hours on the Blue Waters supercomputer, and funds for travel to a Blue Waters-sponsored symposium to present research progress and results. Applicants should be in the second or later year of their graduate program with a well-developed, related research proposal. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S. by the time of the application deadline. Boren Fellowships - Fund research and language study proposals by U.S. graduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Designed to give graduate students maximum flexibility to pursue their academic goals alongside their study of the target language. Language study throughout the duration of the grant may be supplemented with any or all of the following activities: academic internship, classroom study, research. Maximum awards are determined by duration abroad: Up to $25,000 for 25-52 weeks (preferred), up to $12,500 for 12-24 weeks, up to $12,000 for domestic language study (optional). The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) - The CHCI Graduate Fellowship Program (GFP) seeks to enhance participants leadership abilities, strengthen professional skills, and produce more competent and competitive Latino professionals. Critical Language Scholarships - Awards for 8-10 weeks of fully funded overseas foreign language instruction and cultural enrichment experience in 15 critical-need languages for U.S. students in higher education. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. No previous language study required for Azerbaijani, Bangla, Hindi, Indonesian, Persian, Punjabi, Swahili, Turkish and Urdu. EPA STAR Fellowship The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as part of its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is offering Graduate Fellowships for master's and doctoral level students in environmental fields of study. Master's level students may receive support for a maximum of two years. Doctoral students may be supported for a maximum of three years, usable over a period of four years. Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship - To apply for this fellowship you must be a doctoral student who is conducting research studying modern foreign languages and area studies in another country for six to twelve months. Hubert H. Humphrey Doctoral Fellowship - This fellowship is for doctoral dissertations related to arms control and disarmament issues in a wide range of academic disciplines: political science, economics, law, sociology, psychology, physics, chemistry, biology, public policy, philosophy, international relations, operations research and engineering. Humboldt Research Fellowship Program - The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation was established by the Federal Republic of Germany to promote international cooperation in research. The Humboldt Research Fellowship Program supports highly qualified post-doctoral scholars of all nationalities and disciplines so that they may carry out long-term research projects in Germany.

IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program - Each summer, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) near Vienna, Austria, hosts a selected group of graduate students, primarily doctoral, from around the world in its Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP). These students work closely with IIASA's senior scientists on projects within the Institute's 3 theme areas of Natural Resources & Environment, Population & Society, and Energy & Technology.  The U.S. Committee for IIASA provides airfare and a modest living allowance for the applicants from American institutions who are selected to participate. http://www.iiasa.ac.at.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship - OSU seniors and recent graduates are invited to apply for a Jack Kent Cooke scholarship to support graduate study. OSU will recommend two such applications to the Cooke Foundation in its annual competition. The Cooke Scholarship can provide funding for tuition, fees, living expenses and books for the time needed to complete the graduate degree. A maximum of $50,000 annually is available for the winners provided they maintain standards of excellence and progress as defined by the Cooke Foundation. Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program - The program provides financial assistance to students who have demonstrated (1) superior academic ability and achievement; (2) exceptional promise; and (3) financial need to undertake graduate study, as demonstrated by the applicants filing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, leading to a doctoral degree or a master's degree in which the master's degree is the terminal highest degree in the selected field of study. Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Program - The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is pleased to announce the Kauffman Foundation Dissertation Fellowship Program, an initiative that will help launch a cohort of world-class scholars in the area of entrepreneurship. During the 2005-2006 academic year, the Kauffman Foundation will award up to fifteen Dissertation Fellowship grants of $15,000 each to Ph.D., D.B.A. or other doctoral students for the support of dissertations in the area of entrepreneurship.

Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund - educational grants to women from developing countries whose graduate studies and plans aim to benefit women and children in their respective regions. Commitment to this goal is an essential selection criterion. For students from developing countries who are currently studying in the United States or Canada, the MMMF awards annually grants of approximately $12,000 each; grants are not renewable.

Michigan Society of Fellows - The Michigan Society of Fellows was founded in 1970 through grants from the Ford Foundation and Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies for the purpose of promoting academic and creative excellence in the humanities and the arts, in the social, physical, and life sciences, and in the professions. Fellows must have received a Ph.D. degree or comparable artistic professional degree between June 1, 2003, and September 1, 2006. Fellows are to be in residence in Ann Arbor during the academic years of the fellowship, to teach for the equivalent of one academic year, to participate in the informal intellectual life of the Society, and to devote time to their independent research or artistic projects. http://societyoffellows.umich.edu/             

National Nuclear Security Administration - The National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Nonproliferation Graduate Fellowship Program is a highly specialized program that provides unique hands-on experience to prepare exceptional graduate students for a career in nuclear nonproliferation or national security. The 12-month, full-time, salary-plus-benefits fellowships focus on NNSA programs designed to detect, prevent, and reverse the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Working alongside NNSA experts in the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, fellows make direct contributions to reducing threats to U.S. and global security, while gaining excellent training and experience with extensive opportunities for networking, career mentorship, and international travel. Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program - The Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program was designed to support students entering their first year of full-time graduate or professional study. To be eligible, you must be a member of Phi Kappa Phi by March 31, 2007, or you must have accepted the invitation to join and plan to be initiated by June 30, 2007. The Pride Foundation is proud to host some of Oregon’s longest standing scholarships. This need-based scholarship program is supported by members of the LGBTQ and allied community who are committed to assisting students of all ages to fund their education. The scholarships support students with a variety of interests and backgrounds, such as activists working to advance LGBTQ rights, students majoring in fine arts and humanities, and LGBTQ adults who are have gone back to school.

The Prince William Sound Oil Spill Recovery Institute (OSRI) - The OSRI is accepting proposals for the Graduate Research Fellowship program in 2007. Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellowship for Education Related Research - These fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory, or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world. Although the dissertation topic must concern education, graduate study may be in any academic discipline or professional field. All applicants must document that they will have completed all pre-dissertation requirements by June 1 of the year in which the fellowship is awarded. An award will be given to support the completion of the dissertation.

TIAA-CREF Ruth Simms Hamilton Research Fellowship - These fellowships support graduate students with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher (out of 4.0) who are researching topics related to African Diaspora and who have written an original, cutting edge research paper on an aspect of the African Diaspora. Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Home Page - Currently a total of 116 fellowships are awarded annually in seven fields: chemistry, computational and evolutionary molecular biology, computer science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, and physics.

Amelia Earhart Fellowship Awards - provides annual grants for women in aerospace-related sciences and aerospace-related engineering.

American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) - A national, nonprofit organization, AISES nurtures the building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Offers scholarships in the following disciplines: science, engineering, and technology areas.

American Meteorological Society - Click on "Student Resources" to find out about the fellowships and scholarships offered for those who plan to be meteorologists, oceanographers, hydrologists, and climatologists.

American Public Power Association - awards scholarships each year as part of its DEED (Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments) Program. DEED also awards one Technical Design Project each year, which is intended to promote the involvement of students studying in energy-related disciplines. The award recipient(s) also receive funding for travel expenses to present their project during the annual APPA Engineering and Operations Technical Conference.

Hydro Research Foundation 2016 Research Awards Program - The Hydro Research Foundation is leading the Research Awards Program designed to stimulate new student research and academic interest in conventional or pumped storage hydropower. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowships - provides a unique educational experience to students enrolled in graduate programs in fields related to marine or Great Lakes studies. The program matches highly qualified graduate students with hosts in the legislative branch, the executive branch, or appropriate associations and institutions located in the Washington, D.C. area. Recipients spend one year working on substantive national policy issues related to marine issues. The Fellowship is open to any student who is in a graduate or professional program in a marine or aquatic-related field at the United States accredited institution of higher education.

The Link Foundation - The Link Foundation is offering the Energy Fellowship Program to foster energy research; to enhance both the theoretical and practical knowledge and application of energy research; and to disseminate the results of that research through lectures, seminars, and publications. By an application to the Foundation in the form of a research proposal, awards will be made to doctoral students in academic institutions. Preference will be given to candidates who have a well-defined thesis direction but who still have enough time remaining working toward their Ph.D. that receipt of a Link Foundation Fellowship could make a difference.

Mark O. Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) - HMSC is a research and educational institution that promotes the wise use of the ocean and coastal environments. HMSC offers a variety of funding opportunities for students in the field of marine sciences.

Morris K. Udall Foundation - Native American Congressional Internship and the Native American Graduate Fellowship in Tribal Policy

NASA Graduate Student Researchers - NASA's Education Division Graduate Student Researchers Program is designed to help meet the continuing needs of the aeronautics and space effort by increasing the number of highly trained scientists and engineers in aerospace, space science, space applications and space technology. Beyond the Graduate Student Researchers Program, NASA also offers internships, co-op programs, and fellowships.

National Center for Environmental Research and Quality Assurance - offers a variety of funding opportunities in the area of environmental study.

National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science Fellowship Programs (GEM) - The National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc. (GEM), a nonprofit organization, was formed in 1976 to increase the number of American Indian, African American, Latino, Puerto Rican, and other Hispanic Americans pursuing graduate degrees in engineering, physical science and natural science disciplines. GEM's principal activity is the provision of graduate fellowships at the MS and Ph.D. levels coupled with paid summer internships. UNCF·Merck Graduate Science Research Dissertation Fellowships - This fellowship is designed to help African-American graduate students complete course work, conduct research and prepare the dissertation for a doctoral degree in the biomedical life or physical sciences. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents who are engaged in and within 1-3 years of completing the dissertation research.

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) sponsors the Repperger Research Internship Program. Interns work under the mentorship of an Air Force scientist, where they are exposed to current research initiatives in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Interns are paid a stipend for a period of ten (10) weeks.

US-EPA Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Fellowships for Graduate Environmental Study - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announces the posting of the Request for Applications, EPA Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Fellowships for Graduate Environmental Study with the goal of offering Graduate Fellowships for master’s and doctoral level students in environmental fields of study. Subject to availability of funding and other applicable considerations, the Agency plans to award approximately 55 new fellowships in the Fall of 2015. American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship and Grant Programs - The American Council of Learned Societies is a private non-profit federation of sixty-six national scholarly organizations. The mission of the ACLS, as outlined in its Constitution, is "the advancement of humanistic studies in all fields of learning in the humanities and the social sciences and the maintenance and strengthening of relations among the national societies devoted to such studies." Fellows and grantees in all programs will be selected by committees of scholars appointed for this purpose. An individual may apply to as many fellowship and grant programs as are suitable. Truman Scholarships - Scholarships to help support the senior year and two years of Master's study for students committed to careers in public service.
